hi, i've used the search function, i did indeed found a thread similar to this one by kgbeezr1, but it is closed, and the reply is very small.

so anyway, i have a thinkpad x300 with 65w power adapter. when idle (power adapter plugged in to the power outlet, but the computer is either off or unplugged) the power adapter would chirp/buzz audibly in relatively quiet room, i would consider it to be loud. however, when the computer is on, the power adapter is very quiet/inaudible/silent.

    is my adapter faulty?
anyone else is having this issue?

I have a T400 and am having the same problem. It's a 90w adapter and is complete silent when my Thinkpad is on but makes a very high frequency chirp like sound when it is off and charging. I would also like to know if it is worthwhile to contact Lenovo as my year of warranty isn't up yet.

My 65w adapter is completely silent. However, I have experienced other adapters (e.g. from HP) that made a very annoying whine.

You can try and contact Lenovo, but I don't know if they'll replace it.
