Hi. This is my first post. I am hoping someone can help me with this...
Here is my setup:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ThinkPad Yoga.
20CD0032US / No digitizer
OneLink Dock / Not the Pro model
AOC q2963Pm - 29" LED-backlit LCD monitor
LED Backlit · 29 inch · HDMI · DVI · DisplayPort · VGA · 2560 x 1080 · With Speakers
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the monitor is connected to the dock (via the HDMI) cable, the monitor resolution only goes as high as 1920 x 1200 and looks awful. If I connect the monitor directly to the laptop via a miniHDMI to HDMI cable or to an older laptop via a VGA cable, it looks great (at 2560 x 1080). Is this a limitation of the OneLink dock? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am wondering if upgrading to the OneLink Dock Pro would solve my problem? I hope to hear from you!

the hdmi on the onelink dock is not hdmi 1.4 compliant, so it can't support the 2560x1080. you need the onelink pro dock with the displayport.

Thank you lead_org. That was very helpful. You would think that one of the 6 people in both pre-sales and technical support at Lenovo would have been able to tell me that. As it turns out, while I really wanted the ThinkPad Yoga to work out for me so I could use a docking station that had integrated power, I just can't get just used to the ThinkPad's track pad. So I'm going to return it and switch to the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. The touchpad on that model is much better in my opinion. Sigh.

I had a follow-up question. Would I need to buy special HDMI 1.4 cables then as well.

My 20" external monitor has hdmi and vga ports. I have the onelink pro dock. To get the 2560 support, should I use the monitor's hdmi or vga, to be supplemented by a corresponding adapter and connect them to the display port on the dock?
On a separate note, I noticed that the digitiser pen won't work with the extended monitor mode. But it works with the duplicate monitor mode. Is this standard?

Your monitor would need to support a resolution of 2560x1080 in order to benefit from either the Display Port on the Onelink Pro dock. I have never seen a 20" monitor that supports that high of a resolution so double check your monitors native resolution first.
As for the pen not working with external monitor in extended mode, you need to calibrate the touch and pen settings in Windows 8. Here is a link to microsoft's support (4th question in the list) Touch and pen settings: FAQ - Windows Help
