my friend has recently been instructed by their college to buy a
thinkpad z61t. after bein asked to help upgrade their laptop i have been ding research on this laptop everywhere i can find an article on it. the problem is that havin bought my first laptop only recently i am not the most knowledgable source on upgrading a laptop need advice and help to fully understand what must be done. from what i understand from what i have read about this laptop it has a pci express slot on it but is occuppied by a wireless graphics card. as far as i know the only way to upgrade a graphics card on a laptop is to put a graphics card (such as the nvidia geforce go series) into a pci express slot. is there another way to install a graphics card and if not is it possible to install an additional pci express slot into the thinkpad z61t? any advice or pointers are also welcomed. please assist T-T

I believe there aren't yet products on the market to hook a normal graphics card into the pci slot on a laptop, or if there are they are prohibitively expensive. If the Advanced Dock works with the Z61t you can put a graphics card in that and get more graphics capability, but only while hooked to the dock.

do you know when it comes out or how much it would cost to get the advanced dock? any links i can take a look at for myself?

The advanced dock is currently available and I believe it is compatible with the z61t. Not cheap though.

Sorry for the slight thread hijack, but where can one even buy a Z61t in the US? I had one on order from Lenovo when they killed it/ran out and "transitioned" me to a T61.
Are you getting them through your school? From a reseller?
