    hm,

will there be a LED screen option in the future,
or is putting in HP 8730 w dreamcolor screen
    'only' alternative??

also would like to see p9500 with 44 w cooling
    as an option..

Most probably there won't be, they were asked about the screen...

As for the alternatives, besides the HP 8710w, the Dell Precision M6400 will have a RGB LED as well.

    Consider this: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page.asp?cid=7-9314-9557
If, indeed, the Lenovo's LCD is of IPS type, I hardly believe they change a CCFL to an RGB-LED (or at least to white LED) soon.
Nevertheless, I'm waiting for a screen-to-screen comparison of these two behemoths...
Having now at my disposal mobile workstations from both HP and Lenovo I opt for the latter, however, the difference in image quality can change my plans.

Sorry, but I don't think it's IPS (look at the link to Lenovo blogs). :nah:

    It's a 6-bit panel . . . most likely TN.

what's the point of color sensor option then??

i hope that there will be a wide gamut screen available soon..

hp's lp2480zx finally attracted me to use lcd on desktop, and then
good news in mobile computing with 8730w dreamcolor option which
makes me to reconsider using laptop (compaq again, this time with
hp logo) as a tool, not only as communication-entertainment device..

but, w700 has compacter design (integrated color sensor, wacom pad,
9 cell battery, keyboard flex would be about the same) and most advanced
architecture (ddr3 vs. ddr2 on hp, which should result in few min. more
battery time), so, by the time they offer all announced options and features
and i make the final decision, it looks like capella would be out then and
the process will start all over again..
