I have just came into ownership of an IBM Thinkpad type 2621 manufactured in 09/99; for basically zero dollars. It does work great but obviously is way far outdated. Outer shell is also in great condition. Is this computer worth trying to upgrade or would this be a waste of time and money?

The hard drive and RAM are probably all you can upgrade. It depends what you are going to use the laptop for, but it's probably not worth it.

    Keep it as a collector's item. ;)

Laptops are not upgradeable like desktops.

Heck, any 8+ year old computer has done its time. :)

If you're not much of a collector, you can always post it on eBay. I'm sure many people would love a ThinkPad 1400.

Hey, I'm typing this from a monster Gateway 9150, 400Mhz, 256MB of RAM and a surprisingly responsive install of Windows XP :D

Yes, its time to upgrade . . .
