Still new to thinkpads and discovering new things all the time.

Something I really like, but can not figure out completely is the trackpoint settings. Often when I use the trackpoint it will snap back by itself and move at a constant rate against my initial direction. This happens even if I completely remove my hand from the keyboard as the cursor still moves. Other times it works just like I would think it is supposed to with no problems. At first I thought that my hand may be making some contact with the trackpad that may be causing this, but it happens with the trackpad both on and off. Since I have found nothing to control this under the trackpoint menu, I am now wondering if this is maybe application specific as I usually notice it in firefox.

There is seemingly some kind of semi intelligent automatic tracking system engaged, anyone know how to turn it off?

    Thanks

If the track point is resisting you, let go and allow it to move where it wants to. It will move about a quarter of an inch then stop. After that it should have reset itself and behave normally again for a while.

When your trackpoint is moving on its own like that, it's calibrating itself. It's slightly annoying but it's normal.

If you hold the track point in one position for too long, it will think that is it's "home" position and calibrate itself to that. When you let off, it thinks someone is pressing it.

Don't rest your finger on the TrackPoint when you're not moving it.
