does anyone know if it possible to use the trackpoint in games?

    i use a USB mouse for look/shoot,
but the trackpoint would be cool for like strafing. lol

The Trackpoint is recognized as a mouse, so it'll be used to look around, not strafe. I've used it a bit on Mass Effect, and I've been okay, although it's obviously better with a mouse.

of course its possible. but like all things in life

    depends on user.
    depends what game.

I can play strategy games np with trackpoint. not so well with fps.

    strafing would be spectacular.

but MidnightSun seems correct; it is recognized as a mouse device.

oh if you mean use trackpoint on top of the external mouse, im not sure havent tried it. I assume you can't because they are both going to be registered as mouses, since in games if i use the external mouse and trackpoint at the same time, trackpoint wins. i.e. by left and right with different mouses.

It would probably be pretty neat for a flight sim, I could not imagine playing an FPS with it though (not enough precision), or even a RTS game (too much movement all the time would make my hand cramp).

I use my trackpoint for everything but gaming. I tried it for a while a day or so ago and its OK, but online against people its just not fast enough IMHO. For single player games no problem, RTS no problem, but FPS and WoW Ill stick to a usb mouse.

except you wouldn't really need precision for strafing
