AHCI is enabled under Config->Sata.
I have my winxp SP2 CD in the drive, I boot up the laptop, hit f12, select boot from CD, then it says press any key to boot from CD, i hit enter key, then I wait a long time and the cd is spinning up for about 1-2 minutes, then it immedately comes to the windows setup screen and I never even got a chance to hit F6 to install third party driver (my guess is that in the 1-2 minutes im looking at that black screen is actually when its loading all the drivers and stuff). As a result there are no hard drives detected and I can't continue with the XP installation. (I actually alrdy have XP installed and my laptop is working fine, i just wanna format and get rid of the bloatware crap)
I've also tried this: before I even got to the installation screen (looking at the Press any key to boot to CD..), and actually having pressed a key, then i hear the cdrom spinning, I kept hitting f6, and it did not help.

you will see at bottom of screen it will say when hit f6 you have do pretty fast or it will just skip go on
you cound try use nlite to slipstream you sata drivers into xp cd
avoid the issue of have to use floppy
watch bottom grey load bar it will tell you when hit f6 -
no the problem is that I don't see it at all. and i stared pretty hard and good at that screen..
it went from "press any key to boot to CD" straight to windows installation selection menu (where u hit enter or f3, etc)
note: i just tested the same win xp cd on one of my desktops and I did see the press f6 blah blah screen, so I think it has something to do w/ the t60p cd/dvdrw lag issue -

this shound help ya it the second it at setup prepare
just keep hit f6 work too -
that site does not help.
anyway i hit f6 on the black screen then my cdrom stopped accessing and I was just sitting there looking at the black screen it was doing nothing, I assume this was the prompt for selection of 3rd party drivers.. however im blind and can't see wut to select so its sorta hard to navigate..
i guess ill try to slipstream the drivers using nlite -
change AHCI in the bios to compatibility - that's the only way I got winxp to install. It doesn't work with AHCI enabled. Don't worry about any performance loss, I'm getting the same numbers in HDtach in XP as I did in Vista
trying to format and install a fresh copy of WinXP SP2
