How do I get rid of it, it is using 50% of my cpu and apparently it is apart of thinkvantage scheduler

    That's impossible.

Anyway, go type "msconfig" in the search box of the Start Menu. Then find the tvtsched program and uncheck it.

same here, its killing my cpu, causing my CPU temp to hit 78C (I'm using tpfancontrol to check) then after 10-20 mins of booting into xp the screen goes black and it freezes. i think tvtsched is the culprit. oh and tvtsched.exe is not even in my startup.

I had this a few days ago, its the Thinkvantage software making a backup to the hidden partition. Try searching for more info, I did a clean install.
