Q1: I'd like to remap the trackpoint's left and right buttons on my T400. Possible? I've found some random old forum posts relating to this, but nothing recent, so I thought I revisit the issue. The answer was always negative, by the way, so I'm not terribly optimistic, but as I use my trackpoint relatively infrequently, I thought it'd be nice to try to get some additional functionality out of the buttons. Considering that the touchpad's advanced settings in the UltraNav settings dialog allows the right and left buttons to be set to a number of different actions, I was surprised to find that the trackpoint settings offer no such options.

Q2: Is it possible to enable "Tap Zones" without enabling tapping in general? I've never been much of a fan of tapping to click, but I like the idea of tap zones, however the checkbox for tap zones is disabled, greyed out, when tapping is unchecked.

    Thanks for reading.

There are more configuration options with the generic driver

    Drivers | Synaptics

    but performance can be erratic.

Sweet, didn't think of that. This driver adds quite a bit the UltraNav driver leaves out. The trackpoint buttons can be remapped, it adds two finger scrolling and three finger gestures, although you're right in that they are a little glitchy, at the very least not quite as smooth as the same functions on my old macbook for instance. Unfortunately still doesn't allow for the tap zones minus tap-click, but this already is way more than I expected. Thanks for the help.
