Pobably a dumb question, but is it possible to exchange an UJ-811b drive (it came with my R51) by something which might be capable of writing DVD + R/RW?
I know about the ultrabay enhanced IBM drives, but they are quite expensive :( , therefore I would like to ask about the possibility to plug in some different slimline laptop drive not made by IBM for example the NEC ND-6650A??

Thank in advance for your comments

It should work. You may have to cut a notch in the bezel on the NEC to make it fit casue of the eject mechanism. I know there are some people over at ThinkPads.com who have done it. You may want to search over there. Good Luck.
