How easy is it to use the Ultrabay Slim drive on a T500? Is it feasible to frequently swap component without too much frustration? I am thinking about using it as a hard drive and an optical drive.

Assuming T500 works like T400 in this respect it's pretty easy and it's certainly feasible.

I find I rarely need or use the optical drive so it's even less of an issue.

They have software called EasyEject which allows you to hot-swap the devices.

You can very easily and quickly swap out any devices in the UltraBay on the T500.

It takes me about 10 seconds to swap them, since I will wait for a few seconds before pulling out whatever is in the ultrabay after sliding the switch that pops out the release lever, since it also tells windows the drive is about to be unmounted.
