i put a memory stick pro duo in the SD adapter slot (i know that was stupid but thats not the point)... and i think i broke it because of that. now, the sd adapter does not lock the SD card. basically, it bounce back my SD card if i try to put it in.

will lenovo fix it for free?
what should i tell them -_- i own this baby like about a week and i am falling in love with him. is there any local stores offer by IBM fixing thinkpads?

I'm sorry, i cant help you with advice for your thinkpad, but, If all else fails,.......I bought an external 16 in one USB 2.0 compatible multi card reader from the supermarket for £6. It's not the fastest nor takes the most card types. but it is very small, easy to use and very cheap

well.... thats for the suggestion. but i rather get it fix especially it is a new machine.

i went to lenovo link and saw the
"Find a Lenovo Service Provider in the Americas Locate an authorized warranty service provider."

    i found:

does that mean i just drive there and request them to fix it?

They won't fix it for free because you screwed it up. Lies aren't going to work either because if they open up your laptop, a quick glance at the mechanism of the media card reader will reveal that the damage was user-inflicted.

I guess you thought the reader was a multi-card one......

    .....but it isn't.

umm do u guys think it worth a shot to try? im thinking bring it over there any play stupid. "i dont know whats going on. the SD adapter does not lock my SD card." is it free to check?

if it is not complicated, maybe I can try to fix it myself.

It doesn't hurt to try. Also it is cheaper to buy a external one than to fix it.
