Lenovo T61 Stand-alone laptop in home, not on any network
Windows XP-Pro, SP 3,
i created a single account (administrator) for myself when i got the pc and it has been working fine. now i tried to create an additional user account....the creation process goes ok (i see the ne pic) but when try to log on using the new account, either nothing happens or i get the following message-
"unable to load profile, make sure the computer is connected to the network or the network is working properly. detail- the requested file is missing"
btw, then i tried tuning on the guest account, i see the new icon but cannot log on; get the same error as above.
any suggestions? thanks

Dr Jg,
Is it possible that a system file has been deleted since the creation of the system?

The MS update might fix the problem.

But the MS update may not work for everyone, based on this thread.
Read the last couple of posts in this thread.

yes that is quite likely as the system had a major glitch and i had to use the backup function to restore the system
so is ther eway to find out which? i hate to reload the whole system...it is likely i'll end up with new problems
thanks

thanks for the links...i'll have to read a bit more and try.
on first read, the problem here seems to be related to password and pass word changes. in my case the new profile or the guest profile has not worked at all and i have not created any passwords.
unable to create additional user account
