    Hi guys,
maybe dumb Q, but anyone have any experience - is it worth asking in some authorized service?

I've got Lenovo R61 laptop with:
VGA controller: nVidia Corporation G84M [Quadro NVS 140M] (rev a1)

I'm very happy with the laptop over last 3 years, but due to heavy usage of virtual machines there, i little lack more of VGA RAM, so i'm just thinking - would it be possible to upgrade the VGA to some newer Quadro?

    Thanks for your opinions :).

no you can't upgrade the GPU.

Use of virtual machines have that much of an impact on the GPU vram usage?

    Oh well, screw that :)
I was afraid so ... I just look on new notebooks with new Nvidia Quadros having even 1GB of VGA RAM.
I have only 128MB and when i run like 3 virtual machines, laptop gets a bit sloppy ... and its not RAM and/or CPU usage - i checked in 'top', 'vmstat' etc.
Hosting system is 64bit Red Hat Enterprise linux ... well ... *sigh*.
I checked Lenovo, but new lapstops having Nvidia VGA are pretty high on my price check regarding the cost.
I'll try to wait one more year and see I guess then ..

    thanks for reply

how about hdd drive access? drive access speed can also affect the performance of the VM, especially when you have multiple instances of which running at the same time.

You really want to defrag your VM's virtual drive container, although I heard that's a bit of a sketchy concept on most Linux filesystems.
