Can you please help me which ram and ssd I should buy for my thinkpad t400. My job is java/web programming on the server. and I want upgrade it into 2*4 GB ram and some SSD. I've read SSD sata 3 is the same performance as SSD sata 2 on t400. and also the same is true for RAM 1333 ghz vs RAM 1066 ghz. I'd like to buy these part from ebay.DE as I live in Finland and I don't have to pay income tax.

    Thank you for your help.

Like you said, the T400 can use DDR3 memory faster than 1066MHz, but that's the fastest speed at which said RAM will operate. Likewise, SATA III SSDs will work, but they will run at SATA II speeds. Under most scenarios the speed difference in both cases is negligible anyway. Just get the cheapest RAM with a lifetime warranty and like a Samsung 840 or something.

If I were in your position I'd pick up a used Intel 320 or Samsung 470 off ebay for cheap. Anything SATA III would be wasted money. In the US, Intel 320 160gb drives are going for $60-135 depending on new or used. The used Intel 320's are exceptional value.

Both of the drives you linked are fine. Intel 320 and Samsung 470 are perfectly good choices as well.

Looking at completed auctions, it seems you can get it cheaper even if you want a new drive.

    I found this:

    Crucial - Memory - 8 GB: 2 x 4 GB - SO DIMM 204-pin - DDR3 - 1066 MHz / PC3-8500 - CL7 - 1.5 V - unbuffered - non-ECC - for Apple iMac (Early 2009, Late 2009, Mid 2009) and Mac mini, MacBook (Late 2008)

but as you see, it is labled for apple mac? I think it has required spec of T400. am I right?

No difference between Mac and non-Mac memory (except maybe certification)... it should work.
