    Hi,
I'm planning to buy specific T61, however it is only equipped with 80 gb 5400 rpm drive. I wonder if it is possible to replace the Hdd with SSD later. for example two years later when SSD become mainstream. what kind of interface SSD used? sata? express card?
if it's not possible I'm considering to buy 7200 rpm drive(much more expensive).
    thanks.

Yes, it is possible to upgrade to a SSD now or in the future. You can get them with both SATA and PATA. I would not recommend getting an Expresscard SSD as they are not as fast.

For the time being a 7200RPM drive like the Hitachi 7K200 would be a good and fast choice and definitely much cheaper than the SSDs. However if you are not a power user, the 80GB 5400RPM drive should be sufficient for most people.
