Just a quick question, I was wondering if I do a clean install of Windows 7 on a ThinkPad with Vista, what happens to the preinstalled software like the Norton subscription? Also I'm asking because I heard that it's much better to do a clean install of Windows 7 rather than just upgrading. I'd rather do just an upgrade to keep all the programs but if there are problems with that like I've read than... I don't have a choice lol.

I am too a supporter of "clean install" but these days machines are so stuffed-up with software that for the very first time i decided to do an in-place upgrade.

So, i upgraded two machines (my T61 at home and an HP desktop at work) from Vista to Windows 7. I am impressed by the result, EVERYTHING went so smooth that i could hardly believe it.
No left-over files, no problems at all and my software is working as it should.

I recommend it, especially if you have a machine with so much software that you have to spend 2-3 days to re-setup everything...

All the software installed on your machine should be located in the SWTools folder on the C:\. The Norton installer should be in there somewhere. I'm not sure about the license. You may have to contact Lenovo with regards to what to about your Norton license.
