hi, i got my thinkpad x200 with xp pre downgraded. I gave it 2 weeks of xp before going to vista. You know xp is fine.. i just switched to vista 2 days ago and i am really happy i did. First off i got rid of allll the crap the laptop came with, and second
i gained 1 HOUR! of battery life.
i have a 4cell, and i now get 2:54 mins, on dim screen, and power saver vista mode.
with the xp installed i would get no more then 2 hrs, and even then i look and 5 mins later its like 1 hr, and 30 mins.
so ya, basically the x200 seems to work a hell of alot better in vista
the only thing that disappoints me is not being able to run aero
-
-
Speaking of which do you happen to know if the X200s is able to run aero?
-
Aero works great on x200s. I think x200 should be able to run it as well.
-
i doubt it considering its slower and or the same
-
how do you enable it?
i installed the driver but there is no aero option -
I know the CPU is slower (usually), but I have no idea about the graphics card.
-
From reading jonlumpkin's experiences, I'm pretty sure you can enable Aero on the X200. The Intel GMA 4500 can handle Aero fine.
-
arg, i just finished all the vista updates and now my battery max is 2:26
i hate patches.
are you sure you have the aero that allows you to have mini windows, and alll those other features?
mine has no option for aero, just vista basic theme. -
Are you sure you have a premium version of Vista installed (aka, not Vista Home Basic, which doesn't support Aero).
-
no i have vista business
-
Running a x200 here with Vista Ultimate and Aero enabled with no problems, maybe you have a driver issue?
Try uninstalling your current VGA drivers and installing the ones directly from the Intel site.
For Vista 32-bit: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...OSs=164&OSFullName=Windows Vista* 32&lang=eng
For Vista 64-bit: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...OSs=150&OSFullName=Windows Vista* 64&lang=eng -
That should allow you to run Windows Aero. Try running the WEI and see what you get - Vista seems to use that to judge whether to turn Aero on or off.
-
ok, i switched to windows 7
and now i have perfect aero
however
finger print reader
and
HDD protect does not work
I have minor visual glitches on the edges of menues sometimes but its not really a big deal. I must say the laptop runs like butter with 7
except for those minor issures i mentioned
and i get about 2:45 on battery life with 4 cell
use vista on x200
