    Dear all,

I'm new in this forum and owned a refurbished T61 (7663-DL6).
I've upgraded my T61's BIOS using middleton BIOS and I've checked the system using Sisoft Sandra under WinXP SP3 32-bit, that my T61 can now use SATA 2 tranfer rate.

I'm planning to get a Crucial M4 64GB SSD for my primary drive and existing Hitachi 100GB 7200rpm as secondary drive using ultrabay caddy.

Will both drive work on my T61 using their maximum speed or the Crucial's speed will become SATA1, too?

And what is the BIOS configuration if I'm using this setup? Compatibilty or AHCI?
If I'm using SSD as my primary drive, I'll be using Win7 64-bit, mainly for 3D modelling software and the HDD will act as storage drive.
But for other purpose beside using 3D modelling, I will disable the SSD and only using HDD (this way I have to enter BIOS and change the boot priority )

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks.

With the BIOS mod you should get the Crucial drive working at SATA II speeds. SSD drives works best with AHCI mode so it enables certain features such as TRIM support and power saving modes.

Depending on which drive you use most frequently, if you use the HDD drive mainly but occasionally use the SSD drive on other times then arrange the boot order with the HDD first and the SSD second. When the time comes to use the SSD profile just tap F12 when the ThinkPad logo comes on and it will give you the option to choose which device for the system to boot to.
