I have a ThinkPad X24, with an infrared port. I enabled it in the BIOS.

I also have a LaserJet 5MP, which has an infrared port.
According to the printer manual, it should automatically detect infrared communication.

I set up a printer with infrared port selected as the port. But nothing happens when I try to print, it just times out, the ports are inches apart.

I haven't used infrared at all previously with either laptop or printer.

    Suggestions?
