I have 2 T41's. Just picked the 2nd on ebay.
Both have listed 14.1 XGA (1024x768) TFT LCDs, 32MB ATI Radeon 7500.
I only can get 1024x768 res on one and can get 1400 x 1050 res on the other. One with the higher res has ATI file vers. 6.14.10.0281 driver date of 5/25/05. One with res of 1024x768 has a driver date of 9/11/03, ver 6.14.10.6392.

I went to ibm site and downloaded latest ati driver and still only can get max res of 1024 x 768.
I did notice on the one I can get to the higher res. has an internal dac of 400mhz and the low res has an internal dac of 350mhz.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm stumped.

Is it possible one of the LCD panels has been updated so it can do the higher res? If so how can I check the panel version?

It depends on the panel. Unless the two T41's have identical type and model number, then it's just that they had different specs in the first place. You can look up the specs here by typing in the type and model number (found at the bottom of your notebooks).

My guess is that your 1024x768 is XGA as you said. The other one is probably SXGA+, meaning one of them wasn't really XGA as stated. I am not sure how you can check the panel type on your computer for software.

BTW, here is the link to a wiki page explaining the different resolutions (where I got the panel types).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution

    Hope that helps.

I already did what you suggested, thats where I got my original info. They both are listed as XGA panels. Actually both are also listed with 1.6 ghz cpu's.
When I did a check in bios, one is listed at 1.7ghz.

    thanks,
I think someone changed the panel. I used the ibm detect tool and it stated it was an XGA. I guess it can't be detected by software as to the panel type.
