is this normal?? i have about 3 gb of ram into my t61...

I noticed at 1gb before i added more ram, it ran at about 70-75% up to 80%.
now with 3gb it runs about 37% or 1.0gb

Vista keeps a lot of stuff in the RAM (SuperFetch) while you need it. I have 2GB of RAM and usually the usage is at about a 1GB, until I run something RAM intensive like a game or an Apophysis render. After the program that sucks up all the RAM is done, my system uses about 600MB and is noticably slower.

So yes, it is normal. It's Vista using what it has at the given moment.

windows vista uses a technology called "super fetch", it basically preload the often used programs in memory to increase program start up speed.

for more information you can do a search for "super fetch".

    hope it helps.
