    Hi,

I already posted this on the Lenovo support forums but they do not seem very bussy so I try it here as well: I want to use Nvidia 3d Vision using a Asus VG278HE external monitor on my w530 with a Nvidia Quado K2000 graphics card. I have bought an active Club 3d mini-Displayport to Dual link DVI adapter but the monitor works only with 60Hz. I also tried to lower the resolution but the maximum refresh rate I can set is 75Hz but I need at least 120.

I am using the latest Nvidia drivers (305).

Has anyone hints/ideas how to enable 120Hz/3D Vision on the external monitor?

    Regards,

    Hello dnaxx,

did you manage to solve the issue ?
I am facing the same problem with a geforce GT670 M on the same screen
Thought about the mini-dp to dvi-d cable as you did ...

    Hello
For 1080@120Hz you need 330Mhz displayport adapter. I know this one work with GTX680 dp port.

I did not get this to work with different active and passive display adapters. Then after an intensive research at Nvidia.com (sorry, I don't have the link here) I found out that Optimus (as used by the w530) cannot be used for 120Hz because even if only the discrete card is active all data is passed through the IGP. But it might be possible when using the DP ports on the w530 docking station because I heard that they are directly wired to the Nvidia GPU.

Sorry to say but I don't think the K2000M installed in the W530 can do 120Hz 3D without connecting it via the docking station. I wish I remembered the post that went into the technical details, let me know how you go with this cable but what Wot is talking about is a very different configuration to what we have on our laptops, his talking about a desktop config. Apparently if I remember correctly it had something to do with the bus speed when going through the Intel chipset in our W530s mobo which is bypassed when connecting directly via the docking station display port. - Like I said I can' t remember the exact technical reasons but apparently the dock is the only way to do it.

Hi Dnaxx, you beat me to it. This is what I was talking about and yes apparently it works without issue using the DP on the docking station which is directly connected to the Nvidia GPU.

Why shouldnt it be possible to run via 120Hz when the screen is connected via Displayport?

The docking station is connecting itself via the same connector? So I could also just connect the screen with a random displayport cable on the displayport ?

    Thanks
