I just recieved my W700 yesterday, which I ordered purely because it has two expresscard slots and I need to hook up 3 camcorders up to the computer and do a live video mix.

But the two firewire expresscards that I have (startech and symba using TI chips) neither show up in the device manager when plugged in. They both work flawlessly in my T61p and I have a Esata card that I tested in the W700 and it works flawlessly.
I was able to get the system to recognize one in the 34 slot if I boot up with it plugged in, but no luck with the 54 slot.

Anyone out there have a recent lenovo, probably doesn't have to be a W700, and succeffully use a firewire express card?

Can anyone share their experience with different express cards in the latest group of laptops (t500, w500, w700)??
Do they work when plugged in, or do you have to have them in the machine when you boot up?
