I wanted to buy a Thinkpad Laptop, but their prices were so high here, unless I found a T400 6475R1G
it has Intel graphic card, + Combo Drive instead of DvD writer+ 14.1" 1280*800 display.

The biggest issue is that it's not in a pack!
how can I make sure that it's not a refurbished model or
used and then it's windows recovered!?

this is the link to the model:

what do you think? please share your advices

I am extremely confused at what you're trying to ask exactly. Or what the laptop in question without a package is about...

well, A retailer is providing this in my country at a reduced price of 1000$.
but it provides it without any packaging/box of the laptop!.

as I check the model warranty, I found out that it has still a 3 year warranty

    the questions are:
    1- how can I make sure it's not a used one/leased models!?
2- the Display is 1280*800, 14.1" LCD. is it good?
3- it has a combo drive instead of DvD writer and it's EIDE. is it a problem? can I find the DvD writer drive?
4- is there anyway to find the previous owner of the laptop?

I am really confused! should I buy this, as it's cheap in compare to other T400 models!

1 There's probably no way to know.
2 I guess it depends on what your goal is. I've not seen the WXGA T400, but did see a T61, which looked fine to me. It looked fine to me.
3 The T400 uses SATA optical drives. It's not PATA. You can buy a drive later, but they tend to be expensive since they just switched to SATA and there's not many old ones laying around not being used.
    4 Probably not.

    thank you for your comments
1- a friend of mine, offered me to install dr.hardware or sth like that to check the HDD usage!
    2- ok!
3- I am wondering, but in the IBM website, it's mentioned:
    Optical device
    Floppy diskette size: --
    Optical device: CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo
    Optical device speed8: 24X/24X/24X/8X Max
    Device interface: EIDE
    http://www5.pc.ibm.com/no/products.nsf/$wwwPartNumLookup/_NM9R1MN?OpenDocument
    4- OK!

5- Do you think it worths the 1000$ or not? cuz I found a 6730s around this price.

okay. I just check the site, the price for ultraslim bay DVD writer is around 200$.

what do you think about this offer ZaZ?
I am really confused, cuz I like Thinkpad series alot, but I am not sure if I should either take this offer or bargain on the price
