I live in Canada and I want me-self one of 'em nice t61s (argh). Can anyone predict what will happen if i make the following (false) statement on the phone when i'm purchasing the laptop:

"I moved to the US a year ago but I might be moving back to Canada in a month or two. I want to buy a t61 today but What will happen to the warranty once i move back to Canada?"

I would ask the Q myself but right now I'm outside of North America.

I don't think the t61 is out on the Canadian website yet, and lenovo's are super-expensive on the Canadian website. So I want to buy through the US website and have it shipped to my friend's address in NY or CA and then ask my friend to ship it to me. Yes, i'll be lying to the sales(wo)man but i'll be saving hundreds of dollars, and as a student that's what ultimately counts.

T61s are out on the Canadian website. you can use the visaperks.ca website and pay with VISA to get 15% off regular priced models and 5% off Topseller models http://caipsgws001.can.ibm.com/store/home?aud=EA1VISA&target=home.

In terms of warranty service, the Topseller selection (7664 models) does not offer international warranty while the regular (7959 and 7663) do offer international warranty service, but surprisingly doesn't even list the US or Canada as eligible for the service http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/warrantyLookup.do?type=7663&iws=on&sitestyle=lenovo

On a different note, I've noticed that International warranty service (IWS) is being cut on each successive Thinkpad series. There are 117 IWS-eligible countries on the T43 Topseller selection, compared to 50 on the T60 Topseller and 0 on the T61 Topseller (even on the regular models there are only 16 IWS-eligible countries).

Yes I know about the visaperks but:

upgrading your system is sometimes really retarded. To upgrade to a DVD burner for a DVD-ROM, for ex, it costs more than $100US.

no wxga+ with x3100. x3100 is only offered with wxga.

Finally, rent me rant at the Canadian lenovo website (please go check it out:
It's a joke. Can't they come up with a better website?

Does have any experience? You know, Canada Lenovo site is very poor and there is virtually no configuration. I do not need a Nvidia graphics card! please!
