what's the difference between the "Warranty service upgrades plus Accidental Damage Protection" and the " Warranty service upgrades"??
-
The Accidental Damage Protection version adds protection for certain drops, liquid spills and other "accidental damage" not normally covered by a regular warranty. Worth the few extra $$$'s if you have kids around or are generally a heavy (and not so careful) user. (just my opinion on it's value)
EDIT:
From Lenovo's Site on the Thinkpad Protection...
Whats covered?
* Damage from drops and falls under normal use
* Damage from electrical surges
* Liquid spills
* LCD damage -
ok that makes sense
so it would be stupid to buy both plans -
i doubt u can.. it one or the other
-
Correct, if you select the upgraded plan (additional years) WITH the accidental protection it automatically removes any selection you may have made for the "normal" warranty upgrade.
-
there are huge discounts on them now FYI...completely worth it IMO...a lot less than any other accidental plan from anyone else
-
If you just opt for 1 year of thinkpad protection, is it possible at a later date, say 6 months from now to extend it?
-
hmm anyone
-
No, you can only buy a warranty within the first thirty days.

Is motherboard failure, HD (or SSD) break down all covered by regular warranty?
I'm thinking of purchasing 2 or 3 yr regular warranty when it's available, but not sure which one is more worth it. -
Yeah, problems like that are covered under warranty (cept for battery of course).
-
Thanks, I should get one then. My previous laptop's motherboard died (Vaio SZ
) so I'm getting X200 this time.
Well, with not just motherboard, but SSD, I definitely should get one then.
But what do you think? 2 yrs or 3 yrs? Does regular warranty count from day 1 I purchase the laptop or once 1 year depot warranty ends? -
The difference in price between 2 and 3 years (if they still have that discount on the 3yr) would almost dictate you go ahead with the 3 year warranty.
I went 3 on my T400, was only like $20 more than the 2 year with the student discounts and "special" going on for the 3 year.
warranty vs warranty
