    Hello everybody,

last night I accidentally spilled some water (more than a little splash, less than a sip) on my touchpad. Before I could power it off the laptop froze. I removed the battery the hard drive and the keyboard and it has been sitting on a dry shelf ever since.
Does anybody have any other recommendations on drying it completely or experience with this sort of thing?
For example: what's under the touchpad that could be broken now?
I need to know as soon as possible if I need to replace it.

    Thanks for the help

    Alex

The keyboard and trackpad are waterproof, the touchpad is sealed as water resist, also the two black buttons of touchpad are water proof when I open my T430. But I am not sure about T400.

It'd be easy if it's a cellphone, you can just put it in a bag of rice, here you probably have to buy the 20 lb bag. ;)
I wouldn't worry about it since the keyboard/ultranav portion is pretty water tight, letting it sit on a shelf for a day and the residual water should dry up.

I can't speak for other ethnicities, but living in an oriental family, we have at least 1 20 lb bag of rice at any given time. :p

since it froze after the incident I am pretty sure that at least some temporary was done.

I tried powering it on again, today (almost 78 hours after it happened) and it doesn't work :(
All that happens is that the small light of the fingerprint reader lights up for a few seconds and then nothing. No booting, no fan noise, absolutely nothing.
    Any other suggestions?
If not I might try the rice thing.

    so long

Rice will definitely suck out any remaining moisture in the machine, but I'm not sure whether damage has already been done. Rice is pretty cheap so why not give a try?
