I get decent battery life about 3hr on my t61p, 1920x1200, t9300, quadro 570m. But I'd like a little more, what I've done is disable all the peripherals I don't use. I'm wondering if I can do any more. Thanks

    1) undervolt t9300 to .95v
    2) tpfc at speed rating 1
    3) underclock gpu with rivatuner
    4) turn down screen brightness to 1/3 max
    5) disable devices in device manager, ethernet, sd card reader, pcmcia reader, firewire, remove modem

I'm wondering what else I can disable. How do I disable the usb ports? Disable the usb root hubs? Also how do I disable the vga port

I don't think disabling devices in Device Manager actually affects power consumption in any significant way? Have you measured wattage with and without those devices enabled?

If your battery has significant wear, you could replace that. If you don't have an SSD that may help a little bit too.

it does marginally on some devices measured on a kill a watt. Like the ethernet adapter and on some other laptops the sd card reader (just didn't see an drop on the t61p)

Is that a 9-cell you have in there? If so, there's got to be something wrong with it...

it's an aftermarket, extended dimensions (sticks out and not flush with the back). I think it's 6600 mah, it was about $18 on amazon so I can't complain too much

OK that makes a ton of sense now...

To each his/hers own, but I like my batteries genuine...and am willing to pay the difference in price for the performance gained...
