    Hi,

does anyone have the exact weight of the Thinkpad x200s with WXGA / CCFL Display (4/6/9 cell)?
Some shops wrote 1,39kg or 1,65kg (with 9cell), but i found a blog-entry where the user measured 1,48kg with a 6cell battery. That is the exact weight of the x200 with 6cell battery.

I have an offer where I can get a x200s for just ~ 80-100euro more than the x200 and if it is lighter I would pay that. But if the x200s weighs exactly the same, I can save the money. And with a 6 or 9 cell, the height is also the same.

Do you really care about a 200g difference? 200g is 2 weight of 2 iphones...

Hm, yes I do. Especially the price difference is so low. And I dont buy a new laptop every year. So I want the best for the money.

I carry the unit (and other study-stuff) the whole day over the campus. 1,39kg with a 9cell battery would be nice. Very long battery life and still under 1,5kg.

I don't know the exact weights, but the x200s CCFL will be slightly lighter than the x200 CCFL.

The LCD assembly should be identical on both (the LED assembly is thinner/lighter), but the base of the x200s is a fraction of an inch thinner and a few ounces lighter. This is made possible due to the lower TDP of the processors used in the x200s (a smaller cooler is used).

If battery life and weight are a top concern, then the x200s is a better choice. You should get about 5-10% better battery life due to the low voltage processor (it would be even better if you had the option of the LED) and should save a few ounces on weight.

You may also want to consider an SSD. Ideally the 1.8" Samsung SLC model. This will save you about 50 grams and about 2.5 watts during disk intensive activity (e.g. video playback) compared to a 5400 RPM HDD. See the SSD link in my sig for more details.

200grams is quite a bit. 50grams (mechanical hd vs ssd) not so much.

The X200s also has the roll cage and the X200 doesn't

I believe this only applies to the WXGA+ LED model.

To the best of my knowledge the LCD, top cover, and display support structure is the same on the x200 and CCFL WXGA equipped x200s.

Am I correct in assuming that this is the WXGA CCFL model? It wasn't clear from your post. If so, it would appear that the difference between the LED WXGA+ and CCFL WXGA display is about the same amount of weight as between the 4 and 6 cell battery options.
