First of all just want to say thanks to Arkit3kt for his clean XP install guide. I have managed to downgrade to XP with ease and am very happy with the performance of my x61.

I have a slight problem though. After completing the install I have noticed a red stuck pixel on my screen that was not there when I bought it. It has just turned up now. I noticed it on the black windows xp boot screen.

I am running a program called JScreen fix now to see if it can eliminate the problem. Does nayone else have any recommendations about any other utilities that I could use to try and get rid of the problem? I have just read that repeatdly tapping the stuck pixel with a stylus may help but I am vary in doing so.

Also does anyone know what Lenova's return policy is on stuck pixels? My notebook is brand new and just a few weeks old so I am a bit weary that this may happen again in the coming weeks?

Thanks to all for your advice :)

edit JScreenfix did not work :(

Thanks for the tapping advice Arkit3kt. I'll have a go now with my DS stylus.

I'll run JScreenfix for an hour or so as well just to make sure that software cant fix this problem. The stuck pixel was not there for sure as I always check when buying new monitors or laptops using different coloured screens in full screen mode. This is so obvious that i couldn't have missed it.

edit - Nice one I'll given a bash now and let you know how I got on.

Stuck pixel? Ack! Better tell Arkit3kt to take that part out of his guide! j/k

Hopefully you are able to make it go dead at least. Stuck pixels are very annoying.

Yep I totally blame Arkit3kt for his guide screwing my new lappy up and definitely not Lenovo for making such excellent screens :rolleyes2: (kidding mate)

Hell I've tried everything including a massage (may try accupunture next lol). Nothing seems to work. I'll phone Lenovo up and give them hell, hopefully they'll replace it but TBH it doesnt bother me that much. I haven't seen any movies on it yet but as the pixel is in the black border region it may end up annoying me.

I just read the Lenovo policy on stuck pixels and it sucks big time :(

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it.

..Arkit3kt if you are reading this any idea how I can get the middle tab (between the right and left click buttons) to work? I hate the fact I have lost the scroll screen function. All drivers were installed correctly.

Yes it does. Stuck pixels should be 1 or higher. I can understand for dead, but stuck really is annoying.

If your machine is still new, at least you could return and try to get another one.... if the potential of having to pay 15% restock is less annoying than the stuck pixel.

Unfortunately I bought the laptop whilst I was on holiday in Florida ( I live in the UK). Amazons return policy is not too kind so I guess I'm stuck with it unless I get lucky with a kind rep in the tech section when I call Lenovo.

I'm just baffled by the fact that it wasn't stuck when it was sent out to me and only occured today after I did a clean install. I tried a hotswap with the old 120GB drive that came with the machine but the pixel is still stuck on red.

The wife says I have the 'princess and the pea syndrome'

    Just a quick update.

I did a complete power down last night, pulled the battery out and took out the mains lead. I massaged the area where the stuck pixel was and then left the machine alone overnight.

Hey presto the stuck pixel is gone gone gone. Yipeeeeeee. Looks like it needed a good nights sleep like me :D

A big thanks to LaptopGuru & Arkit3kt for all of you help.
