mine seems much higher than the 7600 on my last laptop
it's often around 65C. and that's when just sitting in vista (not playing games or DVDs)
    is this normal?

in xp it is very cool. I even left in on for an hr, left, came back and felt the bottom surface and it was as cool as I had left it. Even when I play games like BF2 or cs:s it gets warm but not blazing hot

That's the same temp that someone reported on another forum.
Lucky you... one other guy reported 104 degrees. ouch.

No it's not normal. I have the same problem with a 6600. I think it might have something to do with a powermizer settings but I can't seem to find them anywhere in Vista. Vista also doesn't seem to want to throttle my CPU either *sigh*.
