    Hi there, new member here with a new T61: T9300, 4gb ram, 160gb 7200rpm, 15.4" wxga, etc.

can I add a standard 2.5" drive to the slim bay in my new T61? or are they proprietary drives .. also, I havn't opened it up yet .. do I need to buy some kind of cradle for the drive or does it just fit in?

I tried searching and couldn't find anything, it might have been buried pretty low, but I couldn't find it :)

It's a regular 2.5" drive. You need the ultrabay slim adapter like the one here. It says its for t60 series notebooks, which probably includes the t61, but i'd check on that.
