Those are it - there are no extended 9-cell batteries or the like for the Thinkpad X301 or X300.

    look at this ebay link
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Lenovo-X301-SU9...ptop?hash=item2a006f9026&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

the owner has 3 batteries for the x301,
the first one is the main 6-cell battery,
the second one is the 3-cell bay battery ( in place of the DVD-RW drive)
so what is that third 3-cell one in the pics ???

The main battery can either be a flush with the case 3 cell (I assume inside the x301 in that auction) or a 6 cell that sticks out the bottom very slightly. There is also a 3-cell bay battery that replaces the DVD-RW.

If you're intending to buy that x301 you should ask the seller about the condition of the bay battery (number of cycles, design capacity, full charge capacity) as they have a tendency to burn out quickly with the way the handover between batteries is handled (bay battery is drained to 0%, then the main battery takes over).

Exactly what you said in your first post - it's the available 3-cell battery. Note that you cannot use both the 6-cell and the non-multi-bay 3-cell at the same time.
