    what is this thing?

    ok im tryin to figure out what the heck this thing is? its a 1 inch cube. it says IBM at the top in blue letters. its clear but it looks like there abunch of glue in there. theres 2 small metal dots at the bottom and if u touch them with ur fingers its lights up. theres 3 colors, red green and blue. and they simaltaniously change. it starts in a pattern and then starts doing a random order. and if u take ur finger out it resets?

    i took it from my brother in laws. but we got into a huge fight over stupid stuff and i dont plan on talkin to him for AWHILE. he works for ibm and massivly sells there products to companys

    It is either a glowing ice cube or some random desk toy.

    Although if it does have exposed metal, I would not be putting it in my drink anytime soon.


    Though, I am 100% sure it is swag your brother gives to his customers.

    Then it must be some kind of premium gift stuff that IBM gave out at computer fairs for example, although you most likely have to ask him to know exactly what functions it has. :D

    is it a die (like from a pair of dice)?

    I got something *like that from a convention I went to. it was a pair of dice you roll and it beeps and flashes random leds until it settles on the number/die combo

    no its not like that. u have to touch the bottom 2 metal buttons with the tip of ur fingers. and ur lips works also. it seems thats the only parts that makes it turn on

    Capacitance? It probably needs a bit of capacitance to 'activate'. Something like the Thinkpad fingerprint scanner.

    I was right, it is a glowing ice-cube.

    Here is what you do:
    1) Put cube in freezer overnight.
    2) Pour yourself a drink
    3) Instead of ice, put the now cold cube inside the drink.
    4) Turn off the lights.
    5) ???
    6) Profit.


    It both keeps your drinks cold and amuses children (they have those things at restaurants in Disneyland instead of ice).
