that looks very complicated... I was thinking more like deleting stuff from "add/delete programs" in the control panel

grow up=its just a computer, you cant break it, do a clean install, follow instructions, if you eff up start all over again.
You get a chance to learn new combinations of "microsoft" and any number of expletives lol

If you don't want to do a clean install, you don't have to.

    Do this instead.

Restart your computer and press the blue button at startup when it shows the ThinkPad splash screen. From here, you will be performing a custom install. What that means is you'll be able to install the operating system as well as have the option and pick and choose what "factory" programs you want along with it. This will reduce the hassle of going through and uninstalling the programs, which is never trully uninstalled anyways since you have to clean out its registry entries as well as other leftovers.

I'm not sure it's a great idea to encourage people to mess around with the Registry. Yes, it can get clogged, but if you're suggesting to start dabbling in regedit, I would have to advise otherwise.

Programs like CCleaner can help clear gunk from your reg with the click of a button but things can still go wrong, possibly impacting programs way down the line.

And even if you back up before cleaning your registry, I wonder do people actually know how to recover their systems with such a backup; I sure as heck didn't the first time it happened to me.

But there is no completely safe registry cleaner. They're all prone to false negatives. It's a hit or miss with them.

yes its very hard and please read the xp install thread.
First, you need to get a degree in rocket science from the internet for $10.
Then, you need to become microsoft and cisco certified.
    After that its all downhill.

It's not difficult at all. Just follow the guide in my signature carefully.

Please don't be a douchebag. You're not helping anybody with your comments.
