LOL...Well hows that for a stress test?

I normally make it a habit to reboot mine at least once every three days. But I do heavy gaming etc.

Whoa! Must be hibernating like a bear.

I'm on the same boat as Hackez. I do some heavy-loaded gaming (Oblivion GOTY) and I treat my notebook like my desktop I suppose, except that I leave my notebook on sleep a lot. I shut it off overnight though. Is there something negative about booting your system too much?

i can leave my thinkpad on AC for weeks at a time, however if i switch to the battery, it probably won't go more than an hour without a BSOD.......assuming i'm running firefox.

When you restart your computer it allows the OS to refresh in addition to the hardware. Significant spurts of uptime can slowly wear down the performance of your laptop. Of course it is not permanent and can be cured with a simple reboot and does not often show any symptoms unless you do heavy load applications like Oblivion.

I've had Smoothwall running on a 7 year old Dell for about 5 months straight. Unfortunately, it went down once because it needed an update. :(

I know it's not a Thinkpad, but just a cool fact.

So restarting constantly wouldn't accelerate degradation of hardware components or anything right?

I leave my Thinkpad on every 7 days or so then restart once. Turn it of after 5-6 months for moving or take it to school. Last time, I had it on for 6.5 months.
