I'm interested in getting an older model X-series for travel and just to mess around with. The predecessors to the X60s look appealing - X41, X40... how far do these go back? Upgrading memory and HDD is easy so it seems that the processor and build quality are the factors to consider. Where's the sweet spot (which X** model)? What can I get for under $500? under $300? Would mostly be running ubuntu.

    X32 was 3.6lbs and the X40 2.7lbs.
