Since I have noticed there seems to be long shipping times,I just wanted to make sure they dont put the charge on your credit card until they ship it.

Also I am putting vista ultimate on my machine, in order to get the XP downgrade disc is it sent automatically or do I have to phone and request it?

    THanks for the help

There will be some credit card holds placed, but these will probably drop off within a couple days.

Credit card is charged when laptop is shipped, or sometimes after you receive it.

You will be charged when it is shipped and in some cases you may be charged even after you receive it. This is what happened to me, i got charged 3 days after receiving my R61.

Wait and see what discs, if any, arrive with your machine. Many have reported that with the Vista Business/Ultimate orders, that XPPRO revovery disks ship with it, so you just create the Vista disks from the HD and then use the XP recovery ones to downgrade. If no XP disks arrive, then you can call and depending on who you talk to, there may be no charge or else ~$50 USD.

During the last conversation I had with a Lenovo rep, I was advised that the XP downgrade discs were no longer included with a new system purchase, but were available for $45 from tech support.

I'm waiting for my replacement system. The one that I returned did not come with any discs. I made a set of recovery discs through Thinkvantage, but they were basically an image of the original configuration.
