lenovo's site still has errors here and there
the pricing is 1460 which is not quite close to 1199
the options are not quite all there
    I don't know when I should order

Order when you NEED the laptop. The pricing can be priced matched 21 days after receiving the unit.

In terms of pricing, I think X200 is bit higher than what everybody had expected, but I decided to go with it since I've not had a notebook for about 2 months. I've been basically using my parent's 4 years old Vaio.

I wished I knew about CPP earlier, but I'm getting free 64GB SSD, so it's not as bad with student discount + $70 discount from Lenovo's mistake.

Should the price go down, do I call Lenovo for them to give me back credit? The price matching counts from the day I receive my laptop?

I think the price match is 21 days from the day of purchase. I'm not sure on that though.

I did a price match when I bought my T61p, but I did it before it even shipped.

If you use a Visa card to purchase you can get a small discount too. I don't know how it compares to CPP. But, go to Visa.com and then look under discounts or rewards and you can find a Lenovo deal.

Also there's some kind of portal for friends and family of Lenovo employees. "Friends".... that is pretty much open to anyone I guess. I don't know what the site is though.

There's a FAQ in these forums about Lenovo deals too.

    1. I thought the X200 was going to have an LED-backlit display like the x300 but it doesn't. So much for an X200.

    2. J&R in NYC has a basic X200 (7454-2GU) for $1199 with XP Pro and says "Comming Soon". The also have one for about $1550 with a similar description but doesn't say what operating system.

    3. I called Lenovo sales last week and confirmed that the pages for ordering an x200 are not complete yet. There is no way to order a warranty beyond the standard 1-year depot version for now. You call the sales number on the website for extended service agreements for now.

Judging from what the specs I've seen before, the x200s has the LED backit display - maybe you should look around for the x200s instead.
