I'm wondering if there is a brand that is more reliable than Lenovo, has the same or better build quality, speed, etc...
In other words, does Lenovo has real competitors out there?
-
Lenovo has real competitors: dell, hp, toshiba, sony, etc etc. Those are REAL competitors.
In terms of built quality...panasonic toughbook is the only one i can think of. -
I've had a Panasonic W2 before and all I can say is that its the worst built laptop I've had! SD card reader failed, loose threaded screws, overheating problems...all within 6 months of not so intensive use.
Anyways, going back to the topic, I think most mainstream brands are superior to Thinkpads in terms of multimedia and game-potential features. For business notes, main rivals should be Dell Latitude, HP business series, and Toshiba Tecra but for me, Thinkpads are among the best work computers in the market. -
vk60402 asked about speed. You can get faster notebooks if you buy one aimed at gamers, for example by Alienware.

I've heard the build quality of the 3000 series doesn't compare at all with the Thinkpad. Where would Lenovo's own line rack up beside other brands?
-
Call me crazy, but Toshiba has my ear. I think all laptop manufactures have a design flaw from to time, but being the fella turning screws it seems to be less common among the Toshiba's.

which notebooks/brands are superior to IBM/Lenovo?
