Wow..I used to own a t40 and it was simple as take out 2 screws and install the memory..

with the t61..my god..have to take out 4 screws...remove a whole panel which exposes wires ..have to disconnect a wire..and the have to put the memory in an awkward slant...What a pain

Hey, at least they gave you instructions right? Imagine doing it without guidance :(.

    Yay manuals!

actually, i thought it was pretty easy. way better than on my dell 700m. take off hinge cover, take off keyboard, and screw off memory cover. t61 this was much nicer

    lol..wow..that does seem worse...However. I've owned a T40 and a HP nx6300...both were extremely easy...you didn't even need a manual

The only problem I had with the RAM was actually sticking it in the slot. It was my first time installing memory in a notebook.

Yea..it was very awkward sticking it in..especially due to the slant..which results in the 2 chips stacking on top of each other in a weird way

I also thought it was weird sticking it in, making sure the angle was right and stuff.

I thought it was an interesting experience and fairly easy. Even easy compared to some heatsink jobs I've done on some older computers (shivers at remembering trying to get some AMD heatsink clips on back in the day).

On the bright side, at least you only have to do this once (or a few times at most) and you had a step-by-step hardware manual to guide you through it.
