I would guess that the price of the same system from Lenovo has probably dropped a fair amount. I would call and try to get a discount because it keeps getting pushed back, say you want the price changed to current pricing or you'll cancel.

As for the delay, I believe it's related to a battery shortage.

Yea, I would cancel and reorder with new technology. Get a CPP discount code from Google and buy it that way since yesterday's sale prices are over.

    You put the high-power consuming T9300 on your order; get a P8600 instead. If you get a T400, T500, X200, or W500, you won't need a 9-cell battery because Centrino 2 + 25W processors make a 6-cell battery last for 6 hours.

I agree, at this point you might want to look at going with the new technology. See if your school has a pricing program with Lenovo separate from the one available on lenovo.com.

Also -- I wouldn't order MS Office with the system. Check out The Ultimate Steal, I bought MS Office 2007 Ultimate for $72 including DVD last spring. Seems too good to be true, but it's completely legit. Microsoft is behind it not some third party.

Alternately, see if your school participates in the Microsoft Student Select program or has other ways to obtain MS Office at very attractive prices.

I just called about my T400. I ordered on Aug.5 and got an estimated shipping time of 8/26. I just phoned in to check on my status and they said it's going to be shipped late September. Apprently there is a shortage on something...I might have to cancel now

The dates listed on the web-site are fairly meaningless. My computer originally hada ship date of two weeks, when that passed I called in and the phone reps couldn't really give any additional info (have to email china). After about a month my estimated ship date on the web site was still saying it would take one month... and my computer arrived in about a week. Good luck with a cancel request. I tried to cancel my order when it still said one month to ship and my request was not honored even though the laptop didn't ship out for another week.
