the largest thinkvision I can buy is 24 inch TN panel "L2440p"....
dell makes 30", 27" IPS monitors...
considering lenovo is the third or fourth largest pc maker, how come they make tiny and ty monitors and overprice them?
-
What's with all the Lenovo bashing lately?
-
From a pure percentage term, Lenovo market cap is around one third of Dell.
IBM use to maintain a very advanced LCD manufacturing process, until it de-merged and sold the business. Lenovo did not get a large Thinkvision business from IBM, and it just maintained the status quo.
I guess Lenovo did not produce more of these products, because they could not justify the capital cost of expansion and not producing enough profit return.
Lenovo at the moment seems to be trying to focus all their resources on their computer business first. -

a well developed monitor division is important for the expansion of a computer company.
Look how lenovo is trying to sell their desktops... "monitors not included" and when you want to buy a monitor as an extra, the best one they can offer is a 24“ with poor viewing angle.
I can't even get a good thinkvision to match my thinkpad, now seems likely that i am going to buy 2 27" from dell, that's $2400AUD that lenovo could have made off me if they made good monitors.
how hard is it to make good monitor? the IPS technology is more than 14 years old. -
none of the computer companies make their own LCD panel, they are manufactured by LG (H-IPS), AUO, Chemei, etc.
Also i am assuming you are going to buy the Dell 2707WFP that screen is pretty bad, we use to use them in our offices for design work. But the bad quality for text and pictures, mean that we were forced to use the Eizo and NEC ips monitors.
So my point here is that not all IPS monitors are created equally, and Dell is not the best.
Read their blog and forum section on how they are dealing with Dell U2410 tinge problem.
If you want quality, then you should consider Eizo or NEC LCD.... even HP range of 24 inch H-IPS monitor is better than Dell's one, and they have the same range of inputs.
Avoid 27 inch Dell at all cost.

U2707 is like from 2007...
i am planning on getting U2711, cnet begs to differ and give U2711 an unprecedented 4.5 stars.
Eizo or NEC are just simply way too expensive for the benefit they provide, Eizo are designed far graphic designer. The cost-benefit principle would not be applicable to most people. And some people actually consider Eizo to be inferior comparing to U2711. -
If OP really wanted the Dell 27 inch H-IPS monitor, get this model instead.

FYI Lenovo is the only manufacturer that offers 22 inch IPS screen with WUXGA resolution.
Also for that sort of money i would just get a 27 inch iMac computer which can double as IPS monitor. -

L220x.....
-
where in L220x sold in Australia?
-
For people who consider a good monitor important... NEC (or whatever brand) H-IPS monitors are well worth it. Especially considering you are staring at the monitor all the time AND monitors are used the longest (easily carried through upgrades). -
as if i need a $3000 monitor for word processing,

you introduced me a monitor that's rarer than Asian chick with Double D. They are impossible to find
