seeing as the x300 is the primary graphics card being used at the moment..I was wondering if IBM will release a notebook with an x600 in the near future.

There have been speculations, but they are only rumors. Haven't heard from a reputable source.

originally when I was shown the T43 specs by IBM in January they had the X600 listed as an option. That didn't happen of course and when we asked last time if the T43 would eventually be available with this card the answer was a "maybe", it didn't sound much like a "yes" to me. I'm guessing it's going to take until 2006 before we see something higher than the X300 available for any IBM machine.

Are they going to refresh the T43 at all over the summer? It seems like a lot of other brands are starting to offer "summer" models.
-
IBM offers business style notebooks and as such business buyers value slower refresh cycles and do not appreciate upgrades and refreshes every 6 months, so no IBM will not be offering any refresh on the T43 this summer. Possibly middle of fall, but we've been talking to IBM this morning and the video card upgrade is definitely a wait until next year thing and any major changes will also come next year with the release of Intel's dual core.
What's the problem guys, is what's currently offered never quite good enough []

I'm sure there are business users (ie graphic designers) who would appreciate a X600 or X700 in there. How hard could it be to tweak the design a bit to attract these potential buyers?
It's been 6 months since the original release of the T43 and there have been reports of 1-2 month delays in the shipping process. People are cancelling their orders and IBM/Lenovo is losing some serious business. Obviously, the transition to Lenovo has not gone as smooth as anticipated.
I really think "loyal IBM customers" are a thing of the past. A lot of people are starting to become skeptical about the IBM brand this year. First, the sale of the computer division to Lenovo. Then Apple part ways with IBM and team up with Intel. I don't know what their business strategies are, but who wouldn't become doubtful?
And on top of all this, why wouldn't they refresh the Thinkpads? Do they want to get behind even further? I really don't see a bright future for Lenovo. That's how I see it. IBM doesn't give a **** anymore. -

Hello Abaxter,
You seem quite knowledgeable/informed about IBM's ThinkPad delivery schedule. I am about to place an order for a T43p however with a few people mentioning updates coming soon, I have a few doubts on pulling the trigger. Do you have any idea what those updates may be (bigger harddrive, new WiFi cards ,etc)? I would hate to spend $3000+ dollars on a new machine, only to find out that a few weeks later, IBM has updated the line. ( I do realize that computers are are always changing, but still wondering if it is wise to hold out just a little bit longer).
Thanks, -
There's no shipping delay for my T43. It shipped yesterday, 6 days after I ordered it.
I'm honestly no Thinkpad expert (just jumped on the bandwagon with this latest purchase), but I get the sense that at this point the computers are still solid machines and there are plenty of loyal customers out there. I guess the future holds all the answers. -
Taking about delivery, I just ordered and got a T43 in 2 weeks.
Nice laptop. Not very impressed with the screen though.
will IBM release a NB with x600?
