I am not sure if I would want glossy screens. Also with the zero gap design don't you think marks would show easily on the glossy screen?

I hope never. I have already two mirrors at home! :D

Ok, some people like it... Could be an extra option, but I really hope it will never be a standard.

I find glossy screens annoying. Hard to work with for long periods of time.

It's available on the R61i ThinkPad already. I'm not sure why anyone would want glossy for a laptop that's intended to be taken outside and used for productivity. Gloss is anti-productive.

I second, third, fourth, whatever, this notion. I really dread the day a glossy screen becomes the only option. Glare is your enemy. I did come around to widescreens and really like them now, but glossy would be counterproductive for me at least.

Yeah, why would a person want a glossy screen for business ????
Thinkpad is designed to last, and only for business.

One of the most thoughtful features of the ThinkPad is the low glare matte surface screen we all enjoy.

The glossy screen can have its advantage for the X61t in that the smooth surface reduces friction for the stylus pen tip (reducing wear on the tip), giving a better tablet writing experience.

However, for the mainstream T and R series, I strongly support all your views that the matte surface screen is most visually ergonomic.

hehe...it's a mistake to go for a glossy screen! i had tried out 3 glossy screen laptop but then i had to get back to the high quality Matte Finish one. Only reasons: try them out and compare, you'll have the answers.
