Im thinking about pulling the trigger on an x60 or a t60, dont quite know yet.

in the case of an x60, ( 1.83ghz, 1.5GB ram, 80gb HDD) it only comes with intergrated graphics, now im wondering is this enough for windows vista, obviously im not going to be running aero and the fancy graphics, but will vista run comfortably.

The logic that im using is that if vista will run, that i should wait for the core 2 duo x60 refresh to take advantage of 64-bit power in vista?

Then again i found a pretty good deal on an x60 @ 1.4k CAD. and i dont know if it will fly away.

    thanks mates

It runs fine on my Compaq V3000 with Intel 950 card.

That thing is horribly out of date from when much of information was highly speculative. That said if you care about running Aero then a dedicated card is a must otherwise it will run fine as it has on my V3000.

Teomilke, I'm in the exact same position as you and I think we're even looking at the same promotion. I'm inclined to wait, but FYI I think there's a video floating around on YouTube demonstrating Aero Glass on a GMA 950.

Yep the X60 model 170686U (same model reviewed earlier this week on NBR). That's a nicely equipped model, and an awesome price, about half what it was before, and even hundreds less than the U.S. price which only is one year warranty instead of 3 yrs warranty like this one. (all American X60's like mine are only one year)

Look they want $1200 at futile shop for the crappy 12" plastic averatech with an old slow AMD processor, 1 year warranty, cheap keyboard, and only 2 hours battery life.

You ccould wait for the x61, but you should expect to pay about $3000 in canada.

@Nates, im guessing you're in Canada, are you going through visaperks?

for everyone else, i know this is a very non-lenovo question but how much performance difference will there be from 32bit to 64 bit in vista os?

yes you guess correctly. About 64-bits, i dont think it's an issue because there's almost no 64-bit applications yet... and remember how many years it took for s/w to transitions from 16 bit to 32 bit.

Anyway, IMO i would get that x60 170686u for $1399 now instead of waiting for a comparably equipped X61 later with vista and core 2 duo (which will likely cost $2500-$3000). If you change your mind, you can almost surely resell the x60 then for $1000 or more.

I'm actually using a different promotion, but it's also for $1.4K. I'm still sitting on the fence. What to do... Perhaps I should pick this up now and then relegate it to office duties once the new stuff is out.
