It's the same as a Vista clean install guide.

    1. Backup everything.
    2. Install.
    3. Install drivers.
    4. Install apps.
    5. Transfer files from backup.

    - look up "windows 7 flash drive"
    - follow instructions on how to put your MSDA iso/contents on it
    - fire up your t400, get into bios and change boot order to usb hdd to be first
    - plug in flash drive and do custom install (to have a clean install), make sure after first installation pass you pull out flash drive otherwise it will reboot and ask you to install again.
    - make sure you have your network/wlan drivers ready to install so you get access to internet.
    - update drivers as needed, or use system update 4 to do it for you

It would be much easier to just burn the .iso onto a disk. The flash drive method is usually for people who don't have DVD drives on their computer.

True ... but have you seen the price of blank media nowadays!!!!??? :D

Plus, from what I understand, it's much faster going by flash.

Then again, I had no choice with an x200 with no optical.
