Ok guys heres a better explanation for the problem w/ little bit more detailed?

    What I was doing
I was restoring my T60 to Vista x32 with a recovery dvd.

    Problem
about 1/2 ways through the installation, I get a error page from windows boot management.
    This is what i get:

Window failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: THe selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

    What do I do?
I read around and few others got this winload.exe problem. It seems like it can be solved by using a Vista CD and using the repair option. But unfortunately, all i have is a T60 recovery disk.

There's to be no bumps for 24 hours as per the forum rules.

If you really need help perhaps you should be paying someone. Your post is sort of vague too, which makes it harder to help. I've not see this myself. If you think it's the memory, maybe you should start there.

If you think it's the memory, test it. It's not unheard of for recovery discs to not work. Are they burned?

Format.exe doesn't really really delete anything. But it's really curious that you are getting the same error. I would recommend the you try and clean the drive or try a new disk either from a friend or Lenovo.

Burn another set if you think it's the disc. You could DBAN it to make sure nothing's on there.

@Renee: yea im starting to think its the hard drive problem as well so i think im going to try w/ some different hd. thanks

@zaz: I actually tried burining 4 different set of disks. and still no good. =(
I formated the PC using G-parted. I tried DBAN but it got error everytime i tested. so im really thinking its my hard drive.

!!!!! I was just doing a memory test and During the middle of second stick test, the winload.exe error popped up. it might be a memory problem now? oh jeez. it must be the one i got used.

Ill update after i try running everything after taking the stick out

How about trying a different optical drive if you have access to an external.

i still have my T42 ...but borrowed out to a friend so i guess i can try with its optical drive later. And i dont have a external optical drive.
but im not sure if optical drive is the problem.
G-parted ran fine and im running DBAN with the "possible defected" memory stick out right now. Its 3% done so far and so far looking great. last time it failed about 30~40% processed. well lets just hope for the best.
